China Cabinet

This is probably the most traditional use for a kitchen hutch, and there’s a reason why it’s so popular. A hutch is pretty much the perfect place to store your favorite dishware. This more traditional design typically has a few low cabinets. These are great for storing table linens, seasonal pieces and more.

The upper cabinets however, are often enclosed with glass. This makes it an excellent place to store your favorite glassware or dishware. The hutch can be a fantastic solution for storing items in your kitchen that you don’t use as often, but still enjoy bringing out for special occasions.

Mini Mudroom

On the opposite end of the spectrum, the hutch can also be used as a mini mudroom in some homes. This on-trend idea is great if your kitchen is closest to the front door and you find that you could use a bit of extra space as a small mudroom.

Designs like this can include overhead storage for books and important papers. The lower area can be used as a place for shoes, backpacks and other accessories. Be sure to maximize the space to you’re get the benefits of an extra mudroom, without the square footage.

Home Office

This final idea is a bit of a happy medium between the last two. Turning your hutch into a small home office allows you to make the most of the counter space available, while having room to store other things.

If you’re thinking about getting customizable cabinetry, you can also create a hutch that allows you to have the feel of a desk, with the upper storage of a china cabinet. This can be a great place for dishware, books or important paperwork, depending on your own preferences. This hutch design is great for busy parents that are constantly on go as well as a great place for kids to do homework, making it a very family-friendly design.

Regardless of the option you choose to go with, a hutch can be a an amazing addition to your kitchen remodel. The design allows you to maximize the amount of kitchen storage in your home while still looking pulled together and purposeful.
