The list of add-ons that you can include in your next kitchen remodel is literally endless. But which ones are worth incorporating? If you’re looking to add some more premium pieces into your next renovation, we’ve got you covered. After looking into some of the most popular kitchen features, we’re here today to give you our thoughts on which items to skip or splurge on.

Pot Fillers

When to Splurge: If you’ve always dreamed of having the chef’s set up in your kitchen. Cooking enthusiasts love this trend, both for the functionality and the look. If you know you’ll use it frequently, and you have a significant amount of money left in your budget, go for it.

When to Save: Most of the time. While we love the look and the dash of functionality, the truth is, unless you’re a serious cook you probably won’t use it much. On top of that, getting this particular appliance above your cook-top can be pricey. It normally requires running a new water line. So if you don’t consider yourself the next Ina Garden, you can probably skip this one.

Wine Storage

When to Splurge: If you’re quite the wine enthusiast. If you find yourself accumulating enough wine to warrant its own place of residence, then this is perfect for you. The good news about customizable wine storage is that you can really play with size. If you only have a handful of bottles and love the idea of displaying them, adding a wine rack to your kitchen island is a great way to incorporate the trend without spending too much.

When to Skip: If you’re trying to keep up with the trend. In the last year we saw a huge rise in the amount of wine storage additions in kitchen renovations. However, this trend doesn’t seem to have much of a shelf life. If you’re adding in a wine storage component as a way to increase the value of your home later on, it might not be worth the investment.

Hidden Appliances

When to Splurge: Whenever you like! While stainless steel appliances will probably always be in fashion, their camouflage counterparts are going to be in the spotlight for quite some time. The reason we love this trend so much is because it really allows you to focus on the design of your kitchen without having to worry about how your appliances will blend with the rest of the furnishings.

When to Save: If you’re on a strict budget. While this trend is great, it’s definitely not the end all, be all. As we mentioned earlier, stainless steel appliances aren’t going anywhere, so if you’re trying to save a little money, stick with stainless steel and use the extra funds elsewhere.

There you have it folks! Our biggest tip for you if your looking into these or other customizable kitchen fixtures, is to think about personal use. If you don’t see yourself using it much, it’s not worth incorporating into your next remodel.
