Powder rooms are a great remodeling project for so many reasons. While they are considerably smaller spaces, this allows you the opportunity to maximize your budget and the design elements, while still considerably improving the overall value of your home. But how can you pack in the most elements into such a smaller space? We’ve rounded up our top trends and tips for powder rooms, so you can get on your way to designing the perfect powder room.

Floating Vanities

This is a great space saver. Floating Vanities use built in countertops and shelving units to create the illusion of a single slab of material that holds your sink, faucet, and additional decor elements, without unnecessarily clogging up an already small space. The only downside to this design is that it doesn’t allow for a whole lot of storage, so it’s best for guest bathrooms that don’t need to stock large amounts of toiletries and extra products.

Wainscoting

A wall treatment is an excellent way to upgrade a powder room. Because the area is significantly smaller, you can put more premium designs into it without completely breaking the bank. We love this particular design because it gives a room instant charm and personality, and allows you to bring a bit more color into your powder room. With white paneling below, you can feel free to paint the top portion of your powder room with pale blues, creamy yellows or lighter grays.

Mirrors

Everybody knows: Mirrors make a room look bigger. And with a powder room, you can use every illusion you can get. While the look of wall-to-wall vanity mirrors can be a bit dated, hanging circular mirrors has been a huge trend recently. You can keep the look classic and streamlined by bringing in one with minimal trim, or make a design statement with more ornate pieces.

Vessel Sinks

This is a modern and minimal design lover’s dream. Vessel sinks are sleek and sophisticated, so you won’t end up cluttering your smaller guest bathroom. Additionally, these pieces make quite a unique statement, creating an interesting design element that sets your powder room apart.

Decor & Details

Once you’ve gotten through the remodel itself, it’s important that you add the finishing touches. House plants, linens, and other small details can really take your powder room from basic to beautiful.

And there you have it folks! The real key with these smaller powder rooms and guest bathrooms is that you make the most of the space available. You’d be surprised what a few small upgrades can do to a space. Have any tricks for a successful powder room renovation? We’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!
